Service Times
IGREJA BATISTA BETEL. This is the church we are presently working
with. One of our main goals now is to train a Brazilian Pastor to take over
the work. This job has not been an easy one. About the time we think we
may have someone lined up for the job, the Lord calls him to another field.
This is a wonderful problem. New works are developing and needing these
men, so
nothing more natural than to get them involved it the leadership rolls in
those areas. Some of the ministries this church takes care of are the following:
PIRAPORINHA PREACHING POINT: This, we hope, will be the site of a
new church. Right now we have a building rented and holding services every
Sat. night and Sunday morning Sunday School. We have a new outreach ministry
that is being planned to reach more kids in that community.
JARDIM DOS REIS PREACHING POINT: This place has grown the most in
the last few months. Even thought we went through some leadership problems.
The outreach minitry I mentioned above will also effect this community.
MISSION IN THE STATE OF BAHIA: Our missionary, who is fully supported
by Betel, just had their first child. This work is in a place with no running
water or electricity. We have a great need there for a generator. We found
one here, imported from the US (Coleman brand) for $600. This would be a
great asset. We are praying about it.
MISSION IN JACAREI: Just recently we sent a missionary out of Betel
to work with this congragation. It was started by another missionary and
then handed over to us. They seem to be getting adjusted to one another
pretty good. This missionary is also being supported by the Igreja Batista
Betel.
MISSION TRIP: My wife and I went on a trip to Rio to see another
organizations system of teams that they bring in from the US. It was a profitable
time. We are excited about our plans to get some teams formed amongst Independent
Baptist Youth for a work/mission trip here to Sao Paulo.
Be praying about it with us and if you have any young people that may be
interested, please let me know. I will be sending more details about this
plan in the near future.
NEEDS: We have several needs here, some big, some small. We are needing,
believe or not, someone to find some balloons for us. We need the balloons
that are long and thin, that can be twisted into shapes... I'm sure there
is a special name for those, please forgive my ignorance. If you happen
to know where to buy them please let me know. I will send you a check for
the amout of the purchase and shipping.
