NORTH SIOUX BAPTIST CHURCH is striving to be a New Testament witness in a rapidly-growing community. Home of Gateway 2000 computer company, North Sioux City is a community of 2,000 people bordering Sioux City, IA, which has a pop. of 80,000. Over 5,000 people drive to work in NSC every day. The church, which is located right along a main road to Gateway 2000, has been in existence since the 1920's, but the current pastor, Joe Hansen, is the first full-time pastor.
The church is known in the community for its strong stand on music, preaching designed for Christian growth, opposition to the liquor and gambling industry, church dinners between services every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, and a warm family atmosphere. We emphasize sincere Christian living without pretense or exalting men. We encourage our members to be committed and cheerfully make use of their individual spiritual gifts.
We feature Sunday School for all ages, a training program
for prospective teachers, a Thursday ministry for criminal teenage boys,
a van ministry, a dynamic summer VBS, weekly outreach organized through
the Sunday School, yearly evangelistic meetings, and camping trips to Northland
Mission Camp, Camp Joy, and the Wilds of the Rockies. Pastor Hansen is an
'89 graduate of Bob Jones University, and he and his lovely wife Denita
have two [energetic] children, Erik, 4 and Erin, 3. The third is due in
the ides of March, 97. We have been praying the LORD of the harvest for
laborers in this field! Come join a group of committed Christians, and serve
the Lord with us in the end-time harvest field!
